Foresbec Inc., the largest Canadian manufacturer
of high-quality hardwood products, including white and red
oak, maple, yellow birch, beech, cherry, walnut, and red and
grey elm, sells its products in over 45 countries, and has
offices and warehouses in many of them. Approximately 85%
of its production is exported overseas.
Foresbec Inc. obtains its wood primarily
from the Northwestern United States, an area known for its
high-quality hardwoods. It’s an ideal supply source
located near our facilities. North American hardwoods are
sought after for their high density, resistance, and beauty.
Foresbec Inc. also markets timber to the
veneer industry and to cut-to-size production.
Foresbec Inc. inspects, classifies and processes
hardwood species using different procedures, including drying.
The finished product is used in the furniture industry as
well as in the production of other products such as doors,
caskets, floors, mouldings, etc.
Foresbec Inc. began operations in January
1980. Today, the business employs nearly 300 employees, and
its facilities cover an area of 340,000 square feet (31,600
m2) with 26 dryers with a total capacity of 2,500,000 bd-ft
(5,900 m3). Our clients enjoy great selection from our inventory
of 13,000,000 bd-ft (16,500 m3) of different species, grades
and thicknesses.
In 1998, the company acquired a new division by creating
which
specialises in the manufacture of solid hardwood flooring.
Located in St-Eugène, Québec, 20 km from its
head office in Drummondville, this mega project includes a
timberyard, two sawmills, a rough lumber yard, 24 dryers,
a ripping and planing plant, two flooring production lines,
one finishing line and warehouses. After a short time the
division became a serious competitor in the solid hardwood
flooring industry, both unfinished and factory finished.
Supported by its knowledge of the hardwood industry acquired
over the years, the division
manufactures superior-quality products thanks to its state-of
the-art equipment and highly qualified personnel who control
the manufacture process from A to Z.
Foresbec Inc. is a member of the National
Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA) whose offices are in Memphis,
Tennessee. The NHLA’s mandate is to ensure a fair wood
measurement and inspection system by setting out rules that
its members must abide by. Foresbec Inc.
is also a member of the National Wood Flooring Association
(NWFA), the best-known hardwood flooring association in North
America.
The rules set out by these associations dictate the minimum
standards regulating the industry. These rules, which maintain
uniformity in the inspection of rough wood and marketing of
flooring products, are used by salesmen and buyers in their
transactions.
Foresbec Inc. has developed rigourous internal
standards over the years which surpass NHLA and NWFA requirements
and guarantee its customers the highest possible quality products.
Foresbec Inc. is also a member of the Canadian
Lumbermen’s Association (CLA) and the Wood Component
Manufacturers Association (WCMA).
In addition, Foresbec Inc. has established
a policy to protect the environment and our natural resources
by using 100% of its raw materials and also using recycled
products to package its finished products.
A wide range of quality products sold by a team of
professionals who care about their customers’ needs
- that’s what makes Foresbec special.
